Sending LinkedIn DMs but Not Hearing Back?
25 October 2026, by Kanika Vasudeva
Sent a pile of LinkedIn messages lately and heard nothing back?
I hear it on my client calls again and again: “I’m sending so many DMs, but nobody comes back.”
If that’s you, there’s probably a question on your mind. Why is nobody replying? How do I start a conversation on LinkedIn without sounding salesy?
Most people keep that question to themselves.
I understand. We all want to figure it out on our own first, and I’ve been like you. But working it out alone often takes a lot longer.
I recently read through more than 2,500 of my own LinkedIn messages, starting from 2007. (Yes, I know, I’m a nerd. I hear it all the time.)
I do this because I want to get better at my conversations. So I study what works and what doesn’t.
Here’s what I noticed. Almost every good thing in there started with ONE question.
In 2012, I was moving to Oman. I messaged a stranger and asked what working there was really like.
In 2020, I was new in Perth and knew nobody. I asked one person for thirty minutes of his time, and I offered to help him back.
Did asking really work? Yes. I asked, I found answers, and I got to think in a way I couldn’t have on my own.
So on Monday 2 November, I’m going live on LinkedIn, and I’m sharing everything I know.
It’s 90 minutes of Q&A with me. You ask your questions, and I answer them.
This is my way of giving back. I want to help you make the most of LinkedIn.
It starts at 9:30am Perth time (12:30pm in Sydney and Melbourne), and it’s free.
Save your spot for the Live here
Can’t make it? Just shoot me your questions, and I’ll answer them.
Remember this: you don’t have to work out your LinkedIn messages on your own. The question you’ve been sitting on is where it starts.
Thank you for reading. It means a lot that you’re here.
Warmly,
Kanika
P.S. What’s the biggest thing you’re stuck on with LinkedIn right now? Send me a message on LinkedIn and tell me. I’m collecting them so I can bring the answers to the Live.
